MARK 5
READING - 1 John 2:13,14, 1 John 4:4  1 John 5:4,5

The Spirit of Cain - Violence & Murder

Cain the first murderer.

Because of jeaouly envy he rose against his brother and killed him!

1 John 3:10-12 CEB “This is how God’s children and the devil’s children are apparent: everyone who doesn’t practice righteousness is not from God, including the person who doesn’t love a brother or sister. This is the message that you heard from the beginning: love each other. Don’t behave like Cain, who belonged to the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he kill him? He killed him because his own works were evil, but the works of his brother were righteous.

Genesis 4:8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.

What will Set Us Apart is Hustle & Heart - Pastor Rudy

HUSTLE & HEART,  WILL SET APART

CHAMPIONS LEAVE IT ON THE FIELLD!

Romans 8:36-38 Common English Bible (CEB)

37 But in all these things we win a sweeping victory through the one who loved us.

INTRO: WATCHING SPORTS -  I don’t know how many times I’ve been watching sports with the love of my life Annette; whether it’s was baseball or football  and the game was supposed to be exciting with the anticipation of who’s going to win and I don’t know how many times I’ve heard Annette say "they don’t want it, they’re not hungry, what are they doing get in the game!" why because she felt they were putting their Heart & Soul into it, they were play their best!

What will set the greats apart from the rest? The champions will pul there all and  leave it on the field, weather it’s in the boxing ring or on the field.

Today we also have a mandate to give it all to God, to Live and Serve Him, His Purpose, His Mission and to do it with all our heart, strength and mind.

Today what sets us apart as more than conquerors in Christ is that we put our heart and soul into it, that what sets us apart from the rest!

Scriptures on sports to win:

1 Corinthians 9:24-27 NLT - “Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.”

1 Corinthians 9:24-27 MSG “You’ve all been to the stadium and seen the athletes race. Everyone runs; one wins. Run to win. All good athletes train hard. They do it for a gold medal that tarnishes and fades. You’re after one that’s gold eternally.  26,27 - I don’t know about you, but I’m running hard for the finish line. I’m giving it everything I’ve got. No sloppy living for me! I’m staying alert and in top condition. I’m not going to get caught napping, telling everyone else all about it and then missing out myself.”

Scripture on Discipline for the sports:

1 Timothy 4:7-10 CSB. “But have nothing to do with pointless and silly myths. Rather, train yourself in godliness. For the training of the body has limited benefit, but godliness is beneficial in every way, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. This saying is trustworthy and deserves full acceptance. For this reason we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe.”

You will be blessed through this powerful word of God!

“When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, they all went in search of David; when David heard of this, he went out to face them. Now the Philistines had come and raided in the Valley of Rephaim, so David inquired of God, “Should I attack the Philistines? Will you hand them over to me?” The Lord replied, “Attack, and I will hand them over to you.” So the Israelites went up to Baal-perazim, and David defeated the Philistines there. Then David said, “Like a bursting flood, God has used me to burst out against my enemies.” Therefore, they named that place The Lord Bursts Out.”

1 Chronicles 14:8-11 CSB

The Power of Forgetting - Pastor Rudy

Song (This Means War)- Juan Rios & Nellie Avila

Fresh Start - The Power of Forgetting - message by Pastor Rudy

Philippines 3:13 - Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, (SEE SCRIPTURE)

1. PAUL DECLARATION THIS ONE THING I DO - FORGETTING

Word Study -  ONE THING - 1. The Understanding of Uniqueness in the NT.

Only rarely is ες used as a digit in the NT (e.g., 2 Pt. 3:8). It usually means “single,” “once-for-all,” “unique” or “only,”  Stauffer, E. (1964–). εἷς. G. Kittel, G. W. Bromiley, & G. Friedrich (Eds.), Theological dictionary of the New Testament (electronic ed., Vol. 2, p. 434). Grand Rapids, MI: Eerdmans.

FORGETTING - 1950 πιλανθάνομαι [epilanthanomai /ep·ee·lan·than·om·ahee/] v. Middle voice from 1909 and 2990; GK 2140; Eight occurrences; AV translates as “forget” seven times, and “be forgetful” once.

1 to forget. 2 neglecting, no longer caring for. 2 forgotten, given over to oblivion, i.e. uncared for.

Strong, J. (1995). Enhanced Strong’s Lexicon. Woodside Bible Fellowship.

Middle voice is an approximate type of grammatical voice in which the subject both performs and receives the action expressed by the verb. In other words, the subject acts as both the agent and the receiver (i.e., the direct object) of the action.

  • 1909 and 2990; to lose out of mind; by impl. to neglect:—(be) forget (-ful of).  forget; neglect; overlook

1909.  ἐπί ĕpi, ep-ee´; a prim. prep. prop. mean. superimposition (of time, place, order, etc.)  Meaning to place over or above something.

  • 2990 - “be hid” unaware (not impacted in the negative, but rather for the postive)
  • GK 2140 - ignore, overlook, be unmindful, i.e., not remember information and so lose sight of it significance, implying no proper response or an improper response in some contexts שָׁכַח (šā·ḵǎḥ) 8894 Dictionary of Biblical Languages with Semantic Domains : Hebrew (Old Testament)

2. PAUL’S PAST - THREATS & MURDER  Acts - (SEE SCRIPTURE) Acts 7:54-60, Acts 8:1-3, Acts 9:1-31

3. PAUL’S PRIZE  - TRANSFORMING FORGETTING POWER!

1 Timothy 1:12-17 CSB  “I give thanks to Christ Jesus our Lord who has strengthened me, because he considered me faithful, appointing me to the ministry — even though I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an arrogant man. But I received mercy because I acted out of ignorance in unbelief, and the grace of our Lord overflowed, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. This saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” — and I am the worst of them. But I received mercy for this reason, so that in me, the worst of them, Christ Jesus might demonstrate his extraordinary patience as an example to those who would believe in him for eternal life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.”
